There has been buzz for the past few years that Rohit Shetty would direct the Ram Lakhan remake. Ram Lakhan (1989) was one of Subhash Ghai’s biggest hits, starring Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor.

Varun Dhawan and Ranveer Singh were tipped to feature in the remake and later Shahid Kapoor was said to have replaced Dhawan. But, as it turns out, the remake is not happening at all as Shetty has shelved the project.

“Two big heroes don’t want to work together. They just want to promote each other’s films on social media. I don’t know why they are insecure. So, it’s not happening,” Shetty told IANS news agency.

A few days ago it was reported how producer Jayantilal Gada would be remaking Tamil flick Si3, which is the third film in the Singham franchise. Shetty has directed the first two Hindi remakes as Singham (2011) and Singham Returns (2014).

Gada had told Cinestaan.com that they will be remaking Si3 with Sunny Deol in the lead. That though hasn’t deterred Shetty from his idea of making Singham 3.

“It’s a very big brand. It’s given us a lot of respect. We will definitely make Singham 3. We make films for the audience. When they want us to stop, we will stop,” said Shetty.

The director is currently working on Golmaal Again, the fourth film in the Golmaal franchise, that will hit the theatres during Diwali this year.
