AR Rahman roped in to compose for Bruce Lee biopic

Little Dragon is directed by Shekhar Kapur and produced by Bruce Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee.

Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has been roped in to compose music for Little Dragon, a biopic on Bruce Lee's early life in Hong Kong.

"AR Rahman is also doing the music for Bruce Lee," Kapur, who is in Mumbai, told news agency IANS.

The film is co-scripted and directed by Academy Award nominated filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. Kapur is the director of the Oscar-nominated biopics Elizabeth (1998) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007).

Shannon, Bruce Lee's daughter who runs Bruce Lee Entertainment, a division of the Bruce Lee Family Company, has co-scripted and produced the film.

"I always thought that a film about how my father’s life was shaped in his early years in Hong Kong would be a worthwhile story to share so we could better understand him as a human being and a warrior," said Shannon Lee in a statement last month.

Set in 1950s Hong Kong, the movie is based on young Bruce Lee as he deals with his family’s disappointment, young love, betrayal and racism, turning him into the most famous martial arts star and a significant modern day philosopher.
