Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's A Gentleman trailer already featured its leads, Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez, doing some amazing action stunts. Now, the makers have released a behind-the-scene videos offering a sneak peek into the grit and work that went into creating these sequences.
While it is Malhotra's first time in an out and out commercial action film, the directors are quite impressed with him. As co-director Krishna DK reveals, "Sid is made for action, right? He is like perfect. He has got the physique. He has got the agility. To be able to move like that. Very flexible."
Despite the praise, Malhotra says, "Hand to hand action, you can't fake that shit." From fighting two assailants at a time, to leaping off railings and landing on his feet, and jumping through an open window, Malhotra is on fire in these sequences. However, as Krishna DK reveals they took a few months to train with Cyril, the fight choreographer.
Malhotra says,"We worked on movements and we worked on posture." The effect certainly shows, and might make for an interesting watch.
While Malhotra still has some experience with action in films like Ek Villain (2014) and Brothers (2015), this will be Jacqueline Fernandez's first full fledged action film. As the actress reveals, "I've actually been in high-octane action movies where I've not done any action."
The making video has Fernandez bite into a sizeable bit of action firing off two guns, and throwing punches. But the toughest part was not throwing punches, but firing guns without blinking. As Fernandez said, "I was asked to practice not blinking while shooting (the guns). I said, 'Of course, I won't blink."
As co-star Sidharth Malhotra chips in "It is the toughest thing to do." The actress had to do multiple takes before she got one scene right. The scene has already featured in the trailer, where Fernandez comes out firing two guns at a time.
A Gentleman is set to be released on 25 August.
