Director Meghna Gulzar's upcoming film Raazi, which is being widely shot in the Kashmir Valley, has been locked for release on May 11 next year. Alia Bhatt, who will be seen in the lead role, is said to have been training in self defense and Kashmiri accent for the film.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is co-producing the film, tweeted on Tuesday: "Exciting date announcement! 'Raazi' releasing May 11, 2018... Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal."
Meghna, who has earlier made films like Filhaal (2002) and Talvar (2015), is the daughter of celebrated writer Gulzar and veteran actress Rakhee.
Raazi, which narrates the story of a Kashmiri girl married to a Pakistani army officer, will also have Vicky Kaushal in the lead role.
The espionage thriller is based on Harinder Sikka's novel Calling Sehmat, and is being shot in Punjab, Kashmir and Mumbai.
