The first Monday box office collections of Anees Bazmee’s Mubarakan showed a big lull. The Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor starrer made only Rs3.50 crore yesterday, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
The film had shown an extraordinary jump on Sunday as it amassed Rs10.25 crore. This was more than double of what it made on its opening day on Friday (Rs5 crore). After such an encouraging number on Sunday, the film showed some glimmer of hope of reaching closer to its cost of production, which is reportedly Rs70 crore.
But with the slump in the numbers yesterday, it now stands no chance of reaching that score. It has so far made only Rs26 crore.
The same can be said about Madhur Bhandarka’s Indu Sarkar, which also had a major setback yesterday in terms of box office numbers. The Kirti Kulhari starrer made as less as Rs40 lakh on Monday. Its grand total stands at a dismal Rs3.65 crore.
With Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal releasing this week and Akshay Kumar’s keenly awaited Toilet: Ek Prem Katha next week, the going will be tougher for Mubarakan and Indu Sarkar.
