The Chopras are a gifted lot — they can act and sing, too. Priyanka Chopra led the way by crooning her singles 'Exotic' and 'In My City'. Cousin Parineeti Chopra has now followed suit by getting behind the mic for her upcoming film Meri Pyaari Bindu. The singing talent runs in the family.
Parineeti, Ayushmann Khurrana and director Akshay Roy launched the first of the five chapters from Meri Pyaari Bindu that will combine to form one trailer.
Parineeti’s track 'Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin' was released a few days ago and it has been widely appreciated by the audiences.
When asked about the response from Priyanka and the family, Parineeti said, “She was one of the first people to congratulate me. Priyanka was very touched (by the performance). I remember how my bade papa (Priyanka’s father late Dr Ashok Chopra) and my father used to sing and perform together. Priyanka did it first. So, I had to ensure that I preserve the honour of the family. Everyone has liked my performance.”
Parineeti also revealed how she’s always been passionate about singing from an early age, but things didn’t fall into place before. “Most of you know or anyone that knows me knows that I love to sing. I'm always humming. So, it was a (perfect) marriage between me and the character that I'm going to play. People have appreciated me so far so it doesn't matter if I didn't get this opportunity before."
Meanwhile, Parineeti didn’t hesitate in confessing that she used to envy co-actor Khurrana.
Talking about their first meet, Khurrana said, “I remember the first time we met it was IIFA awards. We bumped into each other into the lift. I remember her first words to me were, ‘Yaar, tu toh gaa liya. Mujhe tujhse pehle gaana tha'.”
"I was so jealous," Parineeti said, nonchalantly.
Khurrana continued, “Yes, she was so jealous. I’m glad that after five years her big moment has arrived.”
Meri Pyaari Bindu is set to be released on 12 May.
