He is now father to twins Roohi and Yash, but Karan Johar is a like a father figure to a reigning actress too. It’s none other than Alia Bhatt, the girl who he mentored and launched in the industry with Student Of The Year (2012). The Badrinath Ki Dulhania actress also admitted to having a close friendship with Katrina Kaif.
Speaking to a noted magazine (Grazia India), Bhatt opened up about her friendships in the industry and the support system that has guided her in her career.
“I do have close friendships in Bollywood. It's a cliche that they don't exist. I am friends with Ayan (Mukerji) and Abhishek (Varman) - both directors are my best friends. Karan (Johar) is like a father to me. I am also close to and very fond of Katrina (Kaif)," Bhatt told the magazine.
Johar as a father figure is not surprising, but some may wonder how the Kaif and Bhatt bond got going as the duo have never worked together. The common connection here has to be Bhatt’s rumoured boyfriend, Sidharth Malhotra, who has worked with Katrina Kaif in Baar Baar Dekho (2016). That the trio had become good friends was evident last year when they had a good time as part of the US Dream Team Tour.
Bhatt is counted amongst the finest actresses today, winning her maiden Filmfare Best Actress award for Udta Punjab (2016). The actress has also learnt how to balance her professional and personal life.
“One can prioritise his career and still be up for commitment. I am not somebody that has a fear of commitment, but that said, I also don't want to get married right now,” said Bhatt.
After the success of Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Bhatt will be paired opposite Ranveer Singh in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy and Ranbir Kapoor in Ayan Mukerji’s Dragon, respectively.
