Box office: Baahubali 2 Hindi makes Rs40.75 crore on day one, breaks Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’s record

The film's all India opening day total is expected to be well over Rs100 crore.

There was huge anticipation for the Hindi version of SS Rajamouli’s magum opus, Baahubali: The Conclusion, the second movie in the Baahubali series. But not everybody expected it to break the opening day record of all Hindi films. The Prabhas starrer has earned over Rs40.75 crore (corrected figures) on day one, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The film has thus beaten the record of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), which made Rs39 crore on its opening day. But the achievement of Baahubali is even bigger because PRDP released during the holiday period of Diwali whereas Rajamouli’s film opened on a working day.

Such opening day figures also indicate that the film would be amassing a massive number in the extended weekend (1 May is a public holiday). The film has also earned big numbers in Punjab and Delhi, where south Indian dubbed movies hardly have a chance.

The Hindi version collecting such enormous numbers only means that the all India total of the film across all languages is an unthinkable number. According to BoxOfficeIndia, Baahubali: The Conclusion is on its way to earn as much as Rs125 crore on its opening day all over India.

Apart from Prabhas, Baahubali: The Conclusion stars Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Sathyaraj in pivotal roles.
