It’s his creation and so Pritam was well within his rights to recreate another 'Raabta'. The music director, who composed a track of the same name for Saif Ali Khan’s Agent Vinod (2012), adds some fresh elements for the title track of Dinesj Vijan’s directorial debut Raabta. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the new 'Raabta' is the presence of the gorgeous Deepika Padukone.
The actress had given an instant nod to shoot for this song for good friend Vijan. Dressed in a black high-slit gown, Padukone burns the dance floor with her sensuous dance moves. Hot, sexy, sizzling - one can fall short of words to describe Padukone in this song. Padukone's kohl eyes are quite intoxicating too. You can put the song on mute and still be mesmerised by the sizzling beauty. While the Padmavati (2018) actress does well with the eyes, she doesn’t have any great dance moves to show off.
Amitabh Bhattacharya had penned the original Raabta track in Agent Vinod, and here he is aided by Irshad Kamil, who adds some fresh lyrics. Like the earlier song, the new Raabta is also poetic.
The extended version will be out later, but the music that Pritam has scored for the new 'Raabta' is lilting and sensuous. The earlier 'Raabta', crooned by Hamsika, Arijit Singh and Jo, was purely a romantic number, but this one's more for the dance floor. The title track of Raabta is sung by Nikhita Gandhi. Her voice matches Padukone onscreen avatar perfectly. Gandhi, who sang for AR Rahman’s O Kadhal Kanmani (2015), makes her playback debut in Hindi films with Raabta. She is a talent that you are likely to hear from a lot more in the coming years.
Perhaps, the drawback of the song is that lead pair of Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon are reduced to playing second fiddle to Padukone. However, the Raabta title track is a visual treat one that needn’t be missed, especially if you are a Deepika Padukone fan.
