The veteran film star passed away this morning after a prolonged battle with cancer of the urinary bladder.

Actor Vinod Khanna died today at the Sir Hurkissondas Narottumdas Reliance Foundation and Research Hospital in Mumbai after a long battle with cancer of the urinary bladder. He was 70.
The actor was admitted to the hospital more than three weeks ago, but hospital authorities and his son Akshaye Khanna had then told the media that he was responding positively to treatment and was stable.
Vinod Khanna is survived by wife Kavita Khanna, sons Rahul, Akshaye and Sakshi, and daughter Shraddha. The star was earlier married to Geetanjali, but they later got divorced.
Born in 1946 in Peshawar in the North West Frontier Province in united India, Khanna worked in more than 100 films, including hits like Mera Gaon Mera Desh (1971), Imtihaan (1974), Inkaar (1978), and Amar Akbar Anthony (1978). He was an active politician, and a member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Punjab.
The veteran was last seen playing Shah Rukh Khan's father's in director Rohit Shetty's Dilwale (2015).
