Sarkar 3 trailer: Many vultures circle Amitabh Bachchan's Subhash Nagre

There's nothing new about the latest trailer from Sarkar 3, save the hidden vendetta of Yami Gautam's Annu Karkare.

Over the last few years, Ram Gopal Varma's controversial tweets have made more news than his films. Varma and Eros International had released the trailer of Sarkar 3 on 1 March. The makers have now released the second trailer of the film. Though new, the trailer is not vastly different different from the first one and is far from impressive.

It has been well documented how Sarkar 3 has multiple antagonists with Jackie Shroff and Manoj Bajpayee playing the chief villains. The film also has Rohini Hattangadi, Bharat Dabholkar, in addition to another mysterious character who makes an appearance here. Yet unknown, the character has quite the presence in the second trailer, building more intrigue.

A similar tone underlays Yami Gautam whose character, Annu Karkare, in the film is shrouded in mystery. The second trailer sees Annu Karkare reveal to Shivaji (Amit Sadh) that her father was killed by his grandfather, Subhash Nagre. Shivaji's father Vishnu was killed by his own brother Shankar in the first Sarkar (2005).

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan's Subhash Nagre has too many vultures circling around his head. The Sarkar though, isn’t perturbed and labels them 'rats'.

With a multi-star cast film, it was inevitable for Varma to allow equal footage to most of his key characters. This, however, is the major flaw of this Sarkar 3 trailer. The trailer gives away too much information about the film, while retaining very little suspense. Both the Sarkar 3 trailers bring back memories of the first Sarkar (2005) film, thereby reducing the excitement for it.

The brilliance of Amitabh bachchan, Manoj Bajpayee and its other stellar cast hold the trailer up. Varma’s task is cut out as the film will be competing with Yash Raj Film’s Meri Pyaari Bindu and Irrfan Khan’s Hindi Medium on its release on 12 May.
