With a month to go for the release of Baywatch, the makers have finally put out a trailer that delivers the total worth of Priyanka Chopra's sassy villain, Victorial Leeds. The third trailer from the movie version of the cult television series has Chopra delivering some quality one-liners that stump the team led by Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
The trailer opens with an intense rescue scene with Johnson and Efron saving passengers from a boat on fire. While Johnson's Mitch Buchanon is risking his life to save the passengers, the plan hits a snag since Mitch Brody, played by Efron, doesn't understand his sign language.
On the beach, the team is introduced to the beautiful villain of the film, Victoria Leeds. Chopra adds a bit of sass and flirtatiousness that makes Victoria Leeds a lot more expressive character in this trailer. From her first attempt to flirt with Johnson's character to her angry response to the Baywatch intrusion in her plans is worth a watch. The scene where she shuts down Efron's character (in disguise) with a steely eyed "Easy, Brittany", will get the whistles going.
While Hollywood might be familiar with Chopra as the heroine, Hindi cinema is quite familiar with her ability to deliver as a villain. She had won a Filmfare award for Best Negative Character in Aitraaz (2004).
Tweeting the trailer on his account, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson wrote, 'Warning to the evil @PriyankaChopra, you don't wanna f*ck w/ the Avengers of the Beach. We WILL get dysfunctional ðÂÂÂÂ¥ @Baywatchmovie MAY 25th'
Clearly, even Dwayne Johnson thinks this is the right time to unleash the villain on the scene. With due respect, Chopra does steal some of the team's thunder with her sass. While Chopra has already made an impact with her performance in the TV serial Quantico, Baywatch may well prove to be the film that makes her a household name in the United States of America.
Baywatch is directed by Seth Gordon, and stars Johnson, Efron, Alexandria Daddario, and Kelly Rohrbach. The film will also see special appearances by former Baywatch stars Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.
Baywatch is scheduled for a theatrical release on 25 May.
