Chak De! India girl Sagarika Ghatge gets engaged to cricketer Zaheer Khan

Actress Sagarika Ghatge has got engaged to ex-Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan. The news  was shared by both of them on their respective Twitter accounts last night. 

Ghatge posted a picture with Khan, both holding a glass of wine each. She captioned it, “Partners for life !!! #engaged @ImZaheer.” In the picture shared by Khan, Ghatge is seen showing her engagement ring. He posted a line along with it saying, “Never laugh at your wife’s choices. You are one of them !!! Partners for life. #engaged @sagarikavghatge.” 

Rumours about their relationship started last year after their pictures started making rounds on social media. There were more indications about them being together after they were spotted at cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s wedding last year in November. 

Earlier this year, Ghatge had dropped a hint about her relationship with Khan. Speaking to a publication, she had said, “Let’s just say I am in a very happy space right now. I have never spoken about my personal relationships. In fact, I have never spoken about anything to the press. Personal space is not for discussion.”

Ghatge rose to fame with her character as India’s hockey team captain in Shimit Amin’s Chak De! India (2007). The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer went onto become an iconic film. Following this, however, none of her Hindi films made a mark. But her lone Marathi film, Premachi Goshta (2013) turned out to be a big hit. She was last seen in Irada this year, which starred Arshad Warsi and Naseeruddin Shah. 

Khan, on the other hand, has been one of the most prolific fast bowlers to have played for India. He took retirement from international cricket in 2015. He has continued playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is currently playing for the Delhi Daredevils.
