Before Aamir Khan shifted the release date of his film Secret Superstar to Diwali, T-Series had already announced their decision to shift the release date of Bhoomi. Bhoomi is Sanjay Dutt's comeback film after he was released from Yerawada jail in February 2016.
Bhoomi ,that was earlier scheduled to releases on 4 August, will now be released on 22 September. T-Series made the announcement via the official Twitter page of Bhoomi.

T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar was quoted by entertainment website Pinkvilla, saying, “We are extremely happy to have our film finally release on the 22nd of September this year. Sanjay and our entire team found it an apt decision to shift the release date by a month as this would give us enough time to promote the film.”
Dutt himself wasn’t keen on competing with good friend Aamir's film.
Director Omung Kumar was full of praise for the seasoned actor. He said, "Sanjay has given his best performance till date and I am glad that we are increasing the anticipation for the audiences."
With Aamir having shifted his production Secret Superstar to Diwali, Bhoomi would have been the sole Hindi film releasing the following week. However, 11 August sees the clash of two heavyweights as Akshay Kumar’s Toilet — Ek Prem Kath and Shah Rukh Khan’s next, tentatively titled Rehnumaa/The Ring. If this clash takes place, Bhoomi will have tough task to get screens after 10 August. However, 29 September sees the release of Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2.
The Bhoomi team is currently shooting in Mumbai’s Film City Studio where they are said to be filming the climax scene. The crew had earlier shot in Agra and Chambal.
