Prabhu Deva and Remo D'Souza: Watch the master and his legacy

Born one day apart, Prabhu Deva and Remo D'Souza changed the nature of choreography with their spectacular dance moves. From Prabhu Deva's rubber flexing to Remo D'Souza's spectacular jiving, the two choreographers have moved up another level to become directors. Born within a day of each other, the two are the ruling masters of dance in the industry. On their birthdays on 2 April and 3 April, we look at some of their best works.

It was Hum Se Hain Muqaabla (1994) that opened the eyes of Hindi cinema to the prodigious dancer that was Prabhu Deva. The Tamil film industry was already familiar with this talent. He made his debut in a fleeting appearance in Mani Ratnam's Mouna Raagam (1986), before stepping up to choreography in the director's Agni Natchathiram (1988). Soon, he was one of the industry's preferred choreographers. His flexible moves, impossible looking dance steps turned him into a phenomenon. From dancing with Madhuri Dixit in Pukar (2000) to getting Hrithik Roshan to move to his steps in Lakshya (2004), Prabhu Deva set the tone for modern dance in Hindi cinema.

If Prabhu Deva set the standards in break dance, Remo D'Souza broke them. The choreographer, who rose to heights by choreographing for films like Saathiya (2002), Dhoom (2004) and Student of the Year (2012), is currently one of the top dancers in the industry. His directorial debut in ABCD (2013) was based on the theory of dance, and even had his guru, Prabhu Deva, making an appearance.

Over the years, these two choreographers have turned directors with great success. Prabhu Deva has gone on to direct box office hits like Wanted (2009), Rowdy Rathore (2012) and R...Rajkumar (2013), while Remo has delivered ABCD: Anybody Can Dance (2013), ABCD 2 (2015) with success.

Incidentally, both choreographers celebrate their birthdays one day and one year away. Prabhu Deva was born on the 3 April, while Remo D'Souza was born on 2 April. On their birthday, Cinestaan.com celebrates them with a mashup of their best moves.
