Actress Aishwarya Rajesh has replaced Amala Paul in director Vetrimaaran's upcoming film Vada Chennai. The film, which is a trilogy, features Dhanush in the lead and is set in North Madras.
Aishwarya replacing Amala in the film is only one of the many changes that have taken place in the cast ever since the project was first officially announced in the year 2011.
The film has been going through some cast changes due to date issues. Amala Paul is only the latest actress to be replaced in the film. First, it was actor Karthi who was scheduled to play the lead role. But he pulled out leading to the announcement that Simbu, Rana Daggubati and Kishore would play pivotal roles in the film. However, when Rana and Simbu pulled out of the project as well, Dhanush was signed on to play the lead.
Similarly, it was initially reported that Anushka Shetty would play the female lead in the film and that Andrea Jeremiah would play a supportive role. Later, it was announced that Samantha would play the female lead. It was after Samantha backed out of the film that Amala was signed on.
The team, after having officially announced the project in 2011, finally began shooting for it last year. They shot for around 30 days for the film last year.
However, sources say that Amala too has backed out of the film now citing date issues.
Therefore, the team has replaced her with Aishwarya, who impressed with her performance in Kaaka Muttai.
