Since the first trailer of Half Girlfriend came out, fans have been waiting for the songs to release. With 'Phir Bhi Tumko Chahunga', the wait seems to have ended. Sung by Arijit Singh, the track is a melodious addition to the soundtrack.
Featuring Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, the song is a beautiful montage of picture perfect moments of romance. The song takes Shraddha's Riya Somani through a journey into Arjun's Madhav Jha's world.
From sharing earphones to having their own Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge moment on the bus, the two seem to be all eyes for each other. The song also marks a turning point in the relationship, with Riya looking more in love with Madhav. Considering the title, Half Girlfriend, the song marks the emotional turning point for the film where she realises her love for him.
Composed by Mithoon, and sung by Singh and Sashaa Tirupati, the song has enough romance to get the audience going. The melodious score is similar to several Singh-Mithoon collaborations, but has enough resonance to turn it into a popular track. Manoj Muntashir's lyrics add to the magic of the singers.
Directed by Mohit Suri, Half Girlfriend is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's best selling novel of the same name. The film is set to be released in theatres on 19 May.
