Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who is fast becoming one of the most sought after heroes in Tamil cinema, is to join hands again with director Balaji Tharaneetharan of Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (2012) fame.
Titled Seethakathi, the film will be Vijay Sethupathi's 25th project in Tamil.
The film is to be produced by Sudhan Sundaram, Umesh, Jayaram and Arun Vaidyanathan of Passion Studios, which produced Kappal (2014) and which is now producing the Arjun-starrer Nibunan.
Both Vijay Sethupathi and Balaji Tharaneetharan are good friends. Their earlier film, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, was not only a superhit, but also a trendsetter. At a time when big-budget films produced by major banners were flopping, NKPK proved that a small film with good content and excellent actors could deliver rich rewards at the box office. The film played a big role in establishing Vijay Sethupathi as a bankable hero in the film industry.
Not surprisingly, therefore, news of the new project has triggered excitement in the industry. Director Balaji Tharaneetharan said the team will begin shooting for the film from 24 April.
"I am really excited," he said. "There can be very few words to express the joy that we feel when this sort of a reunion happens. We are aware that the expectations will be very high and we are equally confident that this film will meet those expectations."
