At a time when the industry believes that catfights are common, one top heroine going to the aid of another top heroine is a welcome development. This is exactly what happened during Baahubali:The Conclusion press conference.
At the press conference in Chennai, addressed by the team of Baahubali, actress Anushka Shetty was asked if she had any apprehensions signing a film with two heroines, particularly when the role in the first film was relatively smaller to that of Tamannaah Bhatia. Anushka Shetty replied, “First of all, whenever I sign a script, the main thing I look at is the story. No matter how much screen space you have, if the story is not the driving force, I don't think any script will work. Devasena's character (her character in the film) is a once in a lifetime character. I am very happy to have played this and if there were ten more co-stars too, I would have very happily done this character."
The question arose despite director SS Rajamouli clearly stating that the story has been developed in such a way that Tamannaah’s role is larger in the first film, while Anushka’s role is more significant in the second one.
The actress was also asked by a journalist if she had any apprehensions playing mother-in-law to her peer. Tamannaah Bhatia's character, Avanthika, is the daughter-in-law of Devasena, played by Anushka Shetty.
However, before Anushka could respond to that question, Tamannaah Bhatia intervened. She turned to Anushka and said, "Wow, what an opportunity! Please pass all your jewellery on to me!" much to the delight of all those present.
Anushka too responded, “That's what I keep telling her, 'I'll pass all my jewellery to her. I will be the best mother-in-law."
SS Rajamouli, who was present on the occasion, joined in on the fun, saying, "All the jewellery Anushka has is an iron cage and iron chains. You can pass that on to her.”
Despite the poverty of jewellery, the film is set to break the bank. Trade analysts have predicted that Baahubali: The Conclusion might cross Rs 100 crore on its first day itself.
Baahubali: The Conclusion is directed by SS Rajamouli, and is scheduled for theatrical release on 28 April.
