Tamannaah Bhatia won't be able to step into 'Queen' Kangana Ranaut's shoes

It was a film that changed Kangana Ranaut’s career. Tamannaah Bhatia would have hoped that the Tamil remake of Ranaut’s Queen (2014) to usher in a similar revolution in her career. Unfortunately,  those dreams have now been crushed as the Tamil remake of Queen has been shelved.

“We were supposed to do that film, but it's not happening any more. The reason is unknown to me, but I know it's shelved,” Bhatia told reporters on the sidelines of Baahubali 2 promotions.

Back in November we had reported that K Bhagyaraj had obtained the rights of director Vikas Bahl's Queen and was set to remake it in four Southern languages – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. While Bhatia was signed for the Tamil version, Amala Paul was to do the Malayalam remake and Parul Yadav was picked for the Kannada film.

While Bhatia has confirmed that the Tamil version has been scrapped, the fate of the other three films still remains unknown.

Queen was a commercial as well a critical success, with Ranaut going on to bag the best actress honour at the National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards for her role.

Tamannaah is a popular name in the South and has been part of the highly successful films, including Baahubali: The Beginning (2015). Bhatia would reprise her role as Avanthika in the sequel, Baahubali: The Conclusion 2, that hits the theatres on 28 April.
