The first trailer of Raveena Tandon’s Maatr — The Mother made it clear that the film is about the revenge of a mother whose daughter becomes a victim of a sexual crime. The first song of the film, 'Zindagi Aye Zindagi', released today, narrates the struggle of the protagonist trying to come to terms with the tragedy.
Going by the video, it seems the song is placed right after Tandon's daughter goes through the shocking incident. It shows the actress juggling between looking after her daughter, who is in the hospital, and managing other chores.
The song also shows her ordeal of finding a new home for herself and her daughter. The reason for this is not clear. It might be because of the stigma attached to the victim of such crimes. The picture will be clearer when the film releases.
Tandon has delivered a dedicated performance of an individual battling loneliness in time of need.
In 'Zindagi Aye Zindagi', singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan displays the magic of his vocal chords yet again. His voice embodies the pain the characters on screen are going through. SK Khalish’s lyrics are situational and effective.
Directed by Ashtar Sayed, Maatr – The Mother is set to be released on 21 April.
