The South Indian connection to Majid Majidi's Indian film keeps growing. After Malavika Mohanan, another south Indian actress has joined the cast of the film, Beyond the Clouds. Veteran actress, GV Sharada has officially joined Ishaan Khattar and Malavika on the team of Majidi's first film based in India. The actress will be returning to the big screen after a 15-year hiatus from cinema.
Sharada hails from the family of renowned Kannada theatre stalwart and pioneer, Gubbi Veranna. The actress will be making a comeback with this film. Having started her career in theatre, she had slowly moved on to films. She has done nearly 60 films until now. As an actress, she is well known for her ability to perform intensely emotional scenes with ease.
Beyond the Clouds will be Majidi's first Indian story. Sources report that the director is making every effort to ensure that it is a truly authentic experience. The director has even roped in AR Rahman to provide the background score. The film, which is based on human relationships, will showcase the nuances of a brother-sister relationship that develops further into interesting situational aspects.
Sources say that the actress will be seen essaying the character of Jhumpa in Majidi's Beyond The Clouds.
Commenting on her part in the film, Sharada said, "I'm so glad to be making my comeback after 15 years for a director, who, I consider a cinematic God, and for a story as beautiful as Beyond The Clouds. I am extremely thrilled and looking forward to working with such a phenomenal team — both artistes and technicians and the wonderful team at Zee Studios and Eyecandy Films."
Giving details of how Sharada landed the role, a spokesperson from Zee Studios and Eyecandy Films said, "It was amazing to see such a seasoned actress have her level of enthusiasm. She went through the entire casting process just like anyone else, wanting to do the role and attending meetings, screen tests. She was even asked to lose some weight which she took up and did with so much grace. For someone in her 70s, it is a mean feat but she was willing to make it all happen. We are delighted to have her as part of our film's cast which is now a wonderful blend of young pulsating energy and the depth and balance of experience."
