One of Tamil cinema's fastest rising actors, Vijay Sethupathi will be gifting away 100 sovereigns to senior techinicians from the film industry. The actor, known for his generous nature, is sponsoring the gold medals that are to be presented to 100 technicians at an event to be held on International Workers' Day on 1 May.
The event, to honour senior technicians in this 100th year of Tamil cinema, is being organized by critically acclaimed director SP Jananathan, the founder of Ulagayutha.
"Modern technology is slowly pushing human skill out from the film industry. For example, today it is difficult to find live musicians because recorded music loops have taken over the work of live musicians. This is a small initiative by Ulagayutha to honour skilled technicians. I must thank Vijay Sethupathi for wholeheartedly agreeing to honour the technicians with gold," said Jananathan.
"I am here only because of the technicians and I know their value. I consider honouring them in this 100th year of Tamil cinema a blessing. Cinema is my family and the technicians are my family members. I sincerely thank SP Janananthan sir for giving me this wonderful opportunity to honour my family members. These are not medals to preserve, but gold to be used during times of need," Vijay Sethupathi said.
The actor was recently appreciated for his role in KV Anand's thriller, Kavan.
