Director Neeraj Pandey’s MS Dhoni – The Untold Story is been keenly looked forward to as it is all set to release on 30 September. Based on the life of Indian cricket captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the film will also be getting the widest release worldwide, with 4500 screens being booked. It will also be the widest release for a film in India, including the dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu.

If the film succeeds, it will become a road to stardom for Sushant Singh Rajput, who plays the titular role in the film. The film does look like his best chance till date to become a star to reckon. The advance booking for the film has already begun.

MS Dhoni was supposed to clash with Sunny Leone’s Beiimaan Love. Directed by Rajeev Chaudhari, this is yet another film where the ex-adult star would be seen in a hot avatar. But as per the latest development, the film has now been postponed and will most probably release on 14 October.

There hasn’t been any official word about the reason for the film being postponed, but the release of MS Dhoni looks like the obvious motivation behind this decision. As a large majority of screens would be occupied by the Sushant starrer, Sunny’s film would have hardly got any space. This coupled with the tremendous buzz around the Dhoni biopic would have hurt it badly.

Also, Sunny desperately needs a hit at the moment. After Ragini MMS 2, which released in 2014, she has had a series of non-performers like Ek Paheli Leela (2015), Kuch Kuch Locha Hai (2015), Mastizaade (2016)  and One Night Stand (2016). Only time will tell whether the shifting of the release would help the cause.
