Director Raju Hirani had recently claimed that he hadn't zeroed in on his leading lady for the Sanjay Dutt biopic, which stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. Then came the news of Anushka Sharma being signed for the project.
The intial buzz had it that Sharma would play the role of Dutt's current wife Manyata. However, new reports have emerged which suggest that Sharma may be playing an altogether different role in the film.
As per reports, Sharma will be seen in a cameo role where she plays a biographer, one who chronicles the tales of Dutt.
Hirani spent over 900 (recorded) hours with Dutt before getting down to penning a script. The film is in a nascent stage, with Hirani still working on the script. Hirani was earlier looking to release the film on Christmas next year. However, Salman Khan has already locked that date for Tiger Zinda Hain.
If Sharma does come aboard, this would be her third film with Kapoor after Bombay Velvet and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
