Reports suggest that perennial struggler Vivek Oberoi could be playing a pivotal role in a webseries helmed by former film critic and Bangistan (2015) director Karan Anshuman.
According to reports, Oberoi is likely to play a character based on embattled former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi in the webseries called Power Play. The cash-rich IPL is the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) premier domestic T20 tournament. Anshuman is set to launch Power Play on online merchant Amazon’s soon-to-be-launched OTT (over the top) platform Amazon Prime.
The shooting commenced in Mumbai last week and is expected to wind up in November. Other actors in the 12-episode webseries include Richa Chadda, who is said to be playing a franchise owner, dating a character played by Angad Bedi. Could her character be inspired by Preity Zinta or Shilpa Shetty? We have to wait and watch.
It may be recalled that last monsoon, ErosNow had declared that Anshuman was would be making a webseries based on the match-fixing saga in the IPL, while some other shows would be made too. However, those projects never saw the light of day.
While Anshuman did not answer calls and texts for a comment, the email to Eros International went unanswered.
