Mirzya's 'Aave Re Hichki' is mesmerising ode to the nostalgia of first love

The soundtrack of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mirzya has already got listeners by the ear. Beautifully composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, with verses by Gulzar, the soundtrack is a hit already. The latest video from the film highlights the synchronicity of music and storytelling in the film. 

'Aave Re Hichki' is a beautiful, mellow track spun around the old sentiment that 'if you have a hiccup, someone is remembering you'. The video features some beautiful moments between the lead pair, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher. The romance that blossoms as Kapoor teaches Kher horse riding is sweetly innocent, and suits the nature of the song. The song also hints at the legend that Mirza was an expert horse rider and fell in love with Sahibaan while teaching her to ride. 

Shankar Mahadevan's voice has the softness of a lullaby and fits in with the coarse, pleasing texture of Mame Khan's voice that backs him up. Gulzar's verses shift effortlessly from images local and universal, adding to its appeal. The composers have also managed to combine multiple and contrasting musical styles making it a very pleasant earworm to have. 

Mirzya is scheduled to release on 7 October.
