Accepting the film's failure, the actor said he would be wary of working with first-time directors.

There were a lot of expectations from debutant Nitya Mehra’s Baar Baar Dekho, which starred Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif. The film had made the right kind of noises before the release. Unfortunately, some negative word-of-mouth made sure it failed at the box-office, despite big names like Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar backing it.
Normally, actors don’t like speaking about their unsuccessful ventures and that too soon after the film's release. But Malhotra seems to be an exception. During an interview, the actor said that he will continue doing films that interest him, but now onwards he would seek expert advise from experienced people on how a film is shaping up.
However, the Ek Villain actor took an indirect dig at Mehra saying that he would be wary of first-time directors. “Maybe we failed. But at least we tried something new. Now I know if I meet a first-time director, I’ll be wary. Or if I write a script I’ll be thinking anxiously about whether it works for me as a member of the audience,” he said.
Baar Baar Dekho is a romantic comedy that also explores the idea of time travel.
