Rishi Kapoor hits a fan, Randhir apologises after justifying act

The RK Films & Studio Ganpati celebration is one of the grandest and oldest in the city. Raj Kapoor started the tradition decades ago and after his demise, his sons Rishi and Randhir Kapoor have taken the responsibility. 

But the procession turned ugly yesterday (15 September) after Randhir hit a television journalist who was trying to talk to him on air. This is not all though. Rishi too landed himself in controversy after hitting a fan who was eager to click a selfie with him. Both the moments were captured on camera.

Later in the day, Randhir justified his act while talking to the same news channel. Initially, he refused to accept that he had hit the journalist and stated that it wasn’t a place for an interview. But when it was pointed out to him that his act is captured on camera, he said, “If the reporter feels I have slapped him, then I am sorry.” 

While talking to a portal, Rishi said that they never invite any journaists, but still allow them to shoot their Ganesh celebration. He added, "However, this evening there was heavy rainfall. There were so many people and so much media. We did not call them…. It is impossible when there is so much rain and public (to not lose your temper). When we are respecting God, these small-time journalists poke the damn camera in your face. Because Ranbir was also there everybody got so excited. I don’t blame them, but they misbehaved with me (sic)." 

Despite a video showing him slapping a fan, Rishi denied the act. He said, "If I have indeed slapped them why don’t you show the clip of me slapping? I was behaving like the Mumbai police, trying to monitor the situation. They have misinterpreted it that I misbehaved with the media! You come because you know we are important and you are giving me bull** saying that I have hit you (sic)?"

However, Rishi's language has not gone down well with some sections of the media.

Indicating that he was not willing to dwell upon the incident, Rishi shared a picture with son Ranbir Kapoor with a funny caption that read, “Ranbir seems to be playing pranks behind my back. Rain was the spoilt sport but so what? Ganpati Bappa Morya!!!”
