Buzz has it that Akshay Kumar is set to play five different roles in Omung Kumar-directed psychological thriller Five as the release date has been announced as Republic Day 2018. Omung, who directed films Mary Kom and Sarbjit, will venture into uncharted territory by helming his maiden psychological thriller.
"It's a very different film for me... I have literally been nursing this project for several years now and I am glad the time has come for the film to go on the floors," Omung said in a statement.
T-Series, that produced Omung's Sarbjit, has also backed Five.
In a joint statement, producer Bhushan Kumar said: "Omung Kumar's Five will raise the bar with its exciting storyline, fantastic music and its unique setting."
The music will be composed by Mithoon, Jeet Gannguli and Amaal Malik, screenplay will be by Utkarshini Vashishtha and the director of photography is Ravi Varman.
The film will be shot in London and other parts of Britain. If Akshay is on board, three Kumars will be part of Five including Bhushan and Omung. While Omung or T-Series have not confirmed the lead actor, the fact that it's a Republic Day release, indicates that Akshay could have given his nod for the film.
Republic Day has seen Akshay dole out hits such as Baby and Holiday. This year Akshay had Airlift which released during the Republic Day weekend.
Akshay has worked in psychological thriller 8x10 Tasveer directed by Nagesh Kukunoor in 2009.
