Raaz Reboot is a horror flick that takes the Raaz franchise forward. The makers were faced with a frightful situation when they realised that the film has leaked on the internet a couple of days before its release.
Emraan Hashmi, who plays the lead in the Vikram Bhatt film, has reacted on the same on his Facebook page. He said, “About twenty mins ago, I decided to unwind a bit and go on to my social media pages. I usually look at it as a way of connecting with my fans, who I look at as an extension of my family... It's always a positive experience, connecting with them. But the first thing I saw a few moments back was the trends list which to my horror read ‘Raaz Reboot Leaked’.”
The post continued, “A lot of work goes into a film, whether good or bad. A lot of people toil away, striving to entertain you, as well as run their kitchens. Piracy is a rampant problem, as we have seen over the past few months with a few movies that have been leaked online before their theatrical release.”
The actor was clear that he was in no mood of crying conspiracy. “I won’t add fuel to the fire by harping about conspiracy theories... I won’t point fingers. I don’t intend to get into a public mud-slinging match. Instead, I will request you to give the film a fair chance by watching it in theatres. It's a request, which I think anyone sensible will entertain,” he added.
The year has started a trend that is dangerous for people involved in filmmaking or film production. Films like Udta Punjab, Great Grand Masti, Sultan and Kabali were leaked before its actual release. Out of these, Great Grand Masti suffered the most since it released two weeks before it hit the theatres, while other leaked few days prior.
Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi's Mohalla Assi, starring Sunny Deol, has been involved in censor trouble since last year due to the content of the film that has reportedly hurt religious sentiments. But the film was leaked last year itself.
