Actor Harshvardhan Kapoor counted Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor among people who have influenced him, while speaking at the music launch of his debut film Mirzya, on Tuesday night (13 September). Kapoor, who makes his debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, made his first appearance in front of the media at the music launch event.

His father, Anil Kapoor, got emotional on stage and cried. The proud father spoke about how his son was different from him.

While Harshvardhan is aware of the expectations that come from being a star kid, he says that he doesn't want to take unnecessary pressure.

"When you believe in something so much and work on it for so long and with honesty... When you sacrifice so much. Eventually when you are performing, you do it with a lot of honesty in your heart and mind and the audience can feel it when they watch," said Harshvardhan.

He added, "So I don't think it is intelligent to take creative pressure. When it comes to commercial pressure, because I am so-and-so's son I don't think much about that because whatever has to happen will happen."

While Harshvardhan may be subconciously influenced by his father, speaking about the male actors in the industry who have influenced him, he said, "I make it a point to watch all films. There are so many amazing actors. I like certain films of certain actors. Aamir (Khan) is a great influence. When my generation was growing up Dil Chahta Hai came in 2001, Lagaan came and then Rang De Basanti (2006). Those were defining films when we were growing up. Also, at that time actors were doing many films at a time, he decided to work in isolation and focus on one film at a time. I have been lucky to do that in Mirzya and I hope I get the opportunity to do that with every film if required. It's Aamir for his choices and determination and Ranbir (Kapoor) for his spontaneity and brilliance."

Harshvardhan worked closely with Ranbir when he assisted Anurag Kashyap on Bombay Velvet. His favourite Ranbir performances include Barfi! and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
