For the last few months, many big production houses have found themselves in hot water. Some have announced closure, while other have indicated that they are in trouble. Exorbitant film budgets and star fees are said to be the reason for the bad season. The most recent example of this is Ashutosh Gowariker’s Mohenjo Daro, which faced colossal loss at the box-office.
It seems that money is the reason behind the latest development related to Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay. Eros International, one of the producers of the film, has bowed out of the project even as the film is barely 45 days from its release.
Shivaay was a joint venture between Eros International, Pen India and Ajay Devgn Films. Eros was the first to come on board and Pen moved in later. According to latest reports, the film was supposed to be made at a budget of Rs70 crore. However, the total cost went up signifcantly during the making. As Eros was not ready to pay more, they left the project.
Jayantilal Gada, the head honcho of Pen India, confirmed the news, but didn’t speak about the reason for Eros’ self-ouster from the film.
Shivaay is set to release on 28 October. The film will be clashing with Karan Johar’s multi-starrer, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
