Time travelling hasn't helped Nitya Mehra's Baar Baar Dekho escape a poor day at the box office. The Sidharth Malhotra-Katrina Kaif starrer managed a meagre collection of Rs6.75 crore on its first day.
The film saw a decent opening at multiplexes across the larger metros, particularly Delhi and Mumbai. But its collection across the Central, Western and Eastern theatre circuits remained below par.
Saturday will determine the big push for the film, as it is expected to receive interest from regions beyond the metros. With its high acquisition rate, the film is expected to reach the same collection as the previous venture from Dharma Productions, Kapoor and Sons.
On the other hand, Sohail Khan's Freaky Ali had a worse first day at the office. The Nawazuddin Siddiqui golf comedy ended the day with just Rs1.75 crore in the bank. One of the reasons for the film's dismal performance is the lack of star value, musical content or extensive promotions. The below par content of the film does not point to encouraging signs on Saturday either.
Both films have some hope for the weekend, unlike Ek Kahani Julie Ki which has been washed out. The film was unable to make even Rs10 lakh at the counters on its first day.
