Kajol speaks up in support of Ajay Devgn's stand against Pakistani artistes

The actress tweeted that she was proud of her husband for taking a 'non-political and absolutely correct' stand. Devgn had previously stated that as long as the ties between the two countries are strained there can be no 'exchange of culture'.

The faultlines in the film industry keep growing deeper and deeper. Now, Kajol has stepped up in support of her husband, Ajay Devgn's statement against Pakistani artistes in India. The actor had said, "There is an exchange of bullets happening and you are talking about exchange of culture? We cannot isolate ourselves from the nation." In response to growing queries, Kajol tweeted on her social media account calling it an 'absolutely correct' stand.

The statement from Kajol comes as a surprise as her close friends in the industry, Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, have films that are caught in the crossfire of this controversy. Johar had previously requested that 'boycotting artistes is no solution'. The growing tensions between India and Pakistan have put the spotlight on the actors and artistes from Pakistan who work in the Indian film industry. Actors Anupam Kher, Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Hema Malini have already spoken out against the inclusion of these artistes during these tense times. However, director Johar, Salman Khan and Anurag Kashyap have spoken against the banning of these artistes.

Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is already in trouble for casting Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and is facing opposition from political parties for its release. Incidentally, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is releasing on the same day as Devgn's directorial debut, Shivaay. This adds a new dimension to the statement by Kajol.

The only probable conclusion is that the industry stands more divided than it was before.
