The teaser to Priyanka Chopra's debut Marathi production is out, and boy is it quirky! Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, Ventilator is the story about the family and friends of a man who is put on the ventilator in the hospital. Imbued with a dark sense of comedy and quirk that does not look overplayed, this might turn out to be an interesting film after all.

Ashutosh Gowariker returns to the screen as the son of the old man who is put on the ventilator. He looks at home alongside established actors of Marathi cinema like Usha Nadkarni, Sukanya Kulkarni, Viju Khote and Rahul Solapurkar. The film certainly taps into the anxiety that breaks out in the family when a loved one is put on the dreaded machine. The real life humour only adds to the bewildered expressions on Gowariker's face as he watches his family turn medical experts.

This will be Gowariker's return to acting after a long hiatus. The Mohenjo Daro director was last seen on screen in the television series, CID. His last film dates back to almost 20 years, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994) with Shah Rukh Khan.

Ventilator is being produced by Chopra's newly launched Purple Pebble Pictures. While the actress is currently busy with her film assignments overseas, the production house is being managed by her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra. The film is directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, whose previous Ferrari Ki Sawaari was well received by audiences.

Ventilator is expected to release in November.
