Five years after the infamous episode at Wankhede stadium, the Mumbai police has come to the conclusion that Khan was not drunk and did not use abusive language before minors.

In 2012, Shah Rukh Khan was involved in a fracas with a security guard at the stadium when the latter refused him entry onto the grounds with his children. The Marine Drive police had filed an Non-Cognisable (NC) complaint against the actor. Vilasrao Deshmukh, then president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), had also banned Khan from entering the stadium for five years.
The controversy did not end there. In 2015, social activist Amit Maru approached the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) protesting the use of abusive language in the presence of minors. The comission directed Mumbai police in 2015 to register an FIR against the actor after prima facie investigations. Maru had suggested that Khan was inebriated during the fracas and had abused MCA officials and the groundskeepers.
In a statement put out on 23 June earlier this year, Khan had denied the accusation and stated that the fracas began only when he was abused. Vikas Dalvi, the security guard, had also mentioned in a statement on 27 June that there was no abusive language used. He was also unable to confirm if Khan was inebriated during the incident.
The police report filed in court read: "After the investigation, it was found that no cognisable offence had taken place."
