The Karan Johar film has managed to reach double figures on an opening day.

There was keen eagerness for Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Apart from the ensemble cast and interesting promos, the film constantly remained in the news for close to a month due to its controversy with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

The hype seems to have yielded decent results for the film at the box-office on the first day. ADHM earned s13 crore on its opening day in India yesterday (28 October), as per the numbers shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

It might seem that the number doesn’t match the excitement. But one should note that yesterday wasn’t a holiday in the entire country. So, it can be said that the film has carried out good business on the opening day.

But ADHM has only won the initial battle. As the film is reportedly made at a budget over Rs80 crore, it is important for it to take a decent jump in the long Diwali weekend. Whether or not the film will bag the title of a clear winner at the box-office will purely depend on its numbers in the next few days. Ideally, it needs to earn over Rs100 crore to be a safe venture for the producers.

However, regardless of that, it is almost sure that the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer will finish ahead of Shivaay, which also released alongside. The Ajay Devgn-starrer has earned Rs8.75 crore on day one and garnered mostly negative reviews. Both films have equally received around 2,000-2,200 screens each.
