The intoxicating 'Nashe Si Chadh Gayi' song from Befikre has become a party anthem. While Jaideep Sahni has penned the lyrics, the real creator of the song is producer-director Aditya Chopra. We tried to feel the high the makers of the song experienced while shooting, writing, choreographing and dancing to it.
"'Nashe Si Chadh Gayi' was a line that Aditya Chopra had in his head. He was just generally humming the words. We told him 'why not turn this into a song,'" said music director Vishal Dadlani.
The only brief given to lyricist Sahni was that the song has to be really intoxicating. “Here’s a guy who has fallen in love overnight. It is not even clear which girl he’s fallen in love with, is it Shyra (Vaani Kapoor) or her friend,” added Sahni.
The director of photography is a Japanese lensman named Kaname Onoyama. Like most foreigners on the sets, he, too, is oblivious to the lyrics, but he too can’t help himself crooning the four intoxicating words. Music director Shekhar Ravjiani felt that this was not a party number, nor a typical romantic number crooned by Arijit Singh.
So, what did the two stars feel about the track? What was their experience of shooting it?
“I’d told Adi sir and Vaibhavi (Merchant) ma’am that I really want to dance in this film,” said Ranveer.
While the music was intoxicating, Kapoor felt that the choreography was not easy and she wasn’t sure how she would pull it off. Once the shooting began, it was one joyride.
“You just couldn’t wait for the next session to begin so that the music could resume. You just didn’t want the music to end,” Ranveer added.
