Hrithik Roshan, Yami Gautam's Kaabil trailer a damp squib

After a promising teaser and poster, the trailer of Kaabil doesn't inspire much confidence.

The much-awaited trailer of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil is out. The film  had earlier generated a good buzz with its teaser and Roshan’s first look. Unfortunately, the trailer has turned out to be a damp squib.

While a revenge drama of a blind man is an intense subject, the visuals, words seen from the Kaabil trailer are far from impressive.

The poorly crafted trailer sees Roshan and Yami Gautam overact. They are visually-challenged, but that doesn't stop them from wearing uber cool clothes, sing, and dance.

The trailer can be best broken into three simple sentences:

(a) Two gorgeous, fashionable blind people meet, go on a ‘blind’ date, and get married

(b) Tragedy strikes as the baddies (Ronit and Rohit Roy) rape the girl

(c) The blind Rohan Bhatnagar (Roshan) is out to seek revenge

A perfectly acceptable plot, but going by the trailer, how director Sanjay Gupta turns this into a believable screenplay remains to be seen. His track record does not inspire much confidence either.

The Kaabil trailer will remind you of Aamir Khan's Ghajini (2008) where the only difference was that Khan’s character suffers from short-term memory loss after a brutal beating by Ghajini Dharmatma. In Kaabil, Roshan and Gautam’s characters are blind.

Never judge a book by its cover, but what will truly drive the film will is how well Roshan fits into the character. The trailer hasn’t given any indication of Roshan having powerful, intense scenes.

Kaabil will compete with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees on Republic Day 2017. Kaabil’s trailer has so far managed over 23 million views on Youtube. Khan's teaser of Raees had got an overwhelming response with 18 million plus views since it was launched in July this year.

Sorry, Hrithik Roshan, Kaabil trailer is not quite kaabil-e-tareef.
