Karan Johar to distribute film on 1971 Indo-Pak war, Ghazi

Looks like Karan Johar's connection with Pakistan is not going to end anytime soon. Johar is set to take up another film, based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war, called Ghazi.

The director has joined the team in the capacity of producer and distributor. A source revealed, "After the grand success of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, producer-director Karan Johar has started investing more in the South. Up next is the Rana Daggubati- and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Ghazi. Johar has bagged the Hindi distribution rights for the film."

The film is slated to be released on 24 February next year. 

Ghazi is based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war and is expected to be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu simultaneously. Currently in post-production, the film has Rana Daggubati playing the role of a naval officer, while Taapsee Pannu plays a refugee from Bangladesh. 

While not much is known about the story, the title of the film, Ghazi, holds some indication. One of the major incidents during the 1971 war was the sinking of the Pakistani submarine, Ghazi, by the Indian navy off the coast of Visakhapatnam. The submarine was sunk by a torpedo fired from the destroyer INS Rajput. With Daggubati playing a naval officer, it is likely that the sea battle might be central to the film's plot.
