Vidya Balan is now looking for her daughter in Kahaani 2's intense trailer

The Kahaani 2 story has finally begun. The trailer to Sujoy Ghosh's sequel, starring Vidya Balan, released today, and it gives us the shudders. Featuring the familiar face of Vidya Balan, the story revolves around the missing daughter. Arjun Rampal plays the cop on the trail of this mystery. 

While the prequel had Vidya's character hunting for her husband through the streets of Kolkata, Kahaani 2 revolves around the mystery of her daughter's disappearance. Ghosh spares no effort in throwing us head first into the plot, opening the trailer with a threatening phone call and following it up with Balan's jarring accident. This opens up the plot for Arjun Rampal's investigating officer who discovers more loopholes in the story. The child's mysterious allusion to abuse only brings a more sinister angle to the plot. 

From the first look, the film carries dark undertones and is a level up from the first film. However, it also carries a muddled feel that is unlike the slick, pacy, thrill of Kahaani. The film also stars Jugal Hansraj as an unrevealed character. Knowing Sujoy Ghosh, things might never be as they seem. 

Kahaani 2 is directed by Sujoy Ghosh, and produced by Ghosh, Kushal Kantilal Gada, Dhaval Jayantilal Gada & Aksshay Jayantilal Gada. The film is set to release on 2 December.
