Vidhu Vinod Chopra has a close familiarity with idiots. After all, three of them earned him more than Rs300 crore. So when the producer called Aamir Khan an 'idiot', Khan would do well to take it as a compliment.
Speaking to the press at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2016, Chopra praised Khan's dedication and the trailer of Dangal. The director said only a person who is crazy enough about the craft of acting could pull off such a role.
Dangal is a biopic directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The film is based on the story of Mahavir Phogat, who taught his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari the art of wrestling. Khan plays Mahavir Phogat in the film.
On his reaction to the trailer, Chopra said, "I really like Aamir as an artiste. He is excelling himself." He added, "Aamir is a mad man. We call him 'idiot' like you saw in 3 Idiots. So, only he can do this. If you aren't that then you can make a lot of money and leave the world, but 'idiots' (people crazy for their work) remain forever."
