The trend of short films featuring Hindi film actors has emerged over the last year or so. Interestingly, most of these films are thrillers. Sujoy Ghosh’s Ahalya, starring Radhika Apte, and Shirish Kunder’s Kriti, which starred Manoj Bajpayee, Neha Sharma, Radhika Apte and Manu Rishi, are the most famous examples.
Now, the latest addition to the list of short thrillers is Milap Milan Zaveri’s Raakh. The film stars Vir Das, Shaad Randhawa and Richa Chadda. The trailer of the film has just been released.
From the trailer, Raakh seems to be a psycho thriller with a lot of gore. It shows a shirtless Randhawa beaten up and chained. Blood is oozing from his body. He is in a state of panic because Das, in a calm state, is about to injure him further with fire and a drill machine. Chadda hardly appears in the footage.
It's a welcome change to see Das in a different avatar. Over the years, the actor has got stereotyped as a funny man.
Zaveri is better known as a dialogue writer for films like Masti (2004), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004) and Heyy Babyy (2007). He made his directorial debut with Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai (2010), which starred Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez. Raakh is his first directorial attempt after the debacle of the 2010 movie.
The short film will be released online on 7 November.
