Shooting for the film Fanney Khan, starring Anil Kapoor, is slated to start in December and the buzz is that Priyanka Chopra is likely to join the cast of the film.

A few months ago, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, creative producer of the film, had flown to New York, where Chopra is shooting for the television series Quantico, to give her a script narration of the musical comedy. The actress is said to have liked the story and her role, and given a verbal nod to the project. But she hasn't signed on the dotted line yet.

In a recent interview, Chopra had said she had not signed anything yet, but she was interested in three or four scripts that are still in development. Fanney Khan is one of the films. Certain aspects of her role in the script are being reworked after she showed interest in doing the film.

Chopra said she hasn't committed to anything yet as she can begin shooting only in March 2017, after wrapping up the shooting for Quantico season 2. But our source tells us that Chopra is trying to work her out dates in such a way that she can shoot portions of the film during her December break from Quantico. If not, she will not be free until March or she might end up shooting on weekends like she did for Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Baywatch (2016).

Chopra has been approached to play the role of a star singer, who gets kidnapped by Kapoor in his attempt to further the career of his daughter, a struggling singer. The film is a light and quirky comedy.

Produced by Cinestaan Film Company and directed by first-timer Atul Manjrekar, Fanney Khan is based on Dominique Deruddere’s Everybody’s Famous.

Chopra and Kapoor last worked together in Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do (2015) where Kapoor played her father.
