Lipstick Under My Burkha trailer: Snazzy tale of women breaking free

Quirky, free, and sometimes hilarious, the new trailer of Alankrita Shrivastava's film promises some good things.

Every once in a while, a trailer grabs your attention with the most simple things. The new trailer teaser for Lipstick under my burkha does just that. Directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, this Prakash Jha production film has a stellar cast and a very interesting storyline going for it.

Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumar and Probita Borthakur play four generations of women, each caught up in the suffocating conventions of their life. The film tells the story of how these women set forth to break the mould, and find an answer to their desires.

Well shot, the trailer offers insight into some snazzy editing, and well-written dialogues. From a newly engaged young woman in a small town, to a budding, rebellious poet and a constrained housewife trying to break free, the trailer offers a small glimpse of the many interesting characters.

The film is set to premiere at the 29th Tokyo International Film Festival, which will be held between 25 October and 3 November.
