Director Vishal Pandya is known for his last two films, which were erotic thrillers — Hate Story 2 (2014) and Hate Story 3 (2015). He continues his stint with the genre with Wajah Tum Ho, the trailer of which is just released. The film stars Sharman Joshi, Sana Khan, Gurmeet Choudhary and Rajneesh Duggal.
From the trailer, the film looks like a mix of erotica and murder mystery. It starts off with a sensual intimate scene and then goes into the crime thriller mode. It keeps switching between both throughout the trailer. This makes the erotic element lost in between the crime aspect. In fact, it seems as if both tracks are part of different films.
The one thing that stands out is the idea of showing a murder live on a news channel. Although the idea sounds unrealistic, it does appear interesting. Joshi in the role of a police inspector also generates interest as he hasn’t played a cop before. It is also a welcome change to see him mouth heroic dialogues with punchlines.
These days, the trend of using old hit songs in new films is gaining momentum. But it is questionable to see two old songs featuring in Wajah Tum Ho — ‘Aise Na Mujhe Tum Dekho’ and ‘Maahi Ve.’ Is there any dearth of new lyrics? By the way, the title of the film is also a song from Pandya's own, Hate Story 3.
Produced under Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series banner, Wajah Tum Ho will release on 2 December this year.
