Pahlaj Nihalani, the chief of Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC), has come out strongly in support of the release of films Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has been opposing the release of these films as they have Pakistani actors as cast members ever since the Uri attacks took place.
In his statement, the CBFC chief states that when Karan Johar (ADHM) and Shah Rukh Khan (Raees) signed Pakistani artistes in their films, things weren’t as serious between both nations as they are currently and stalling the release of their films would incur huge losses to the film and the film industry.
He said, “The way our country was developing relations with Pakistan, the same way Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan had accepted the Pakistani actors, and now, this film should be released and should not face difficulties, because through this, not only will these actors suffer losses, but also the nation and the film industry will suffer.”
Nihalani’s comments have come a day after superstar Salman Khan made remarks strongly in support of Pakistani artistes highlighting that they shouldn’t be held responsible for terrorism. His comments triggered extreme condemnation from parties Shiv Sena and MNS. So far, there haven’t been any reactions on Nihalani statements.
In a latest development, Pakistan has banned broadcast of all Indian TV channels.
