After reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan for Rohit Shetty’s Diwale (2015), Kajol is setting up her next film role in Anand Gandhi’s next project.
In an interview with The Hindu, the Ship of Theseus director said, "I am glad that a play I did many years ago has now been chosen to be made into a movie. I am excited about the fact that it will feature Kajol."
Before breaking out with the indie hit Ship of Theseus in 2013, Gandhi directed several plays including the hit Gujarati play 'Chal Reverse Ma Jaiye'. However, Gandhi did not specify which of his plays was being adapted by him for the big screen.
Kajol’s husband Ajay Devgn will be producing the film. Gandhi said, “It has been great collaborating with Ajay on the movie.”
Anand is himself an executive producer on the recent documentary, An Insignificant Man, by Khushboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla. After the screening of the film at the 18th Mumbai Film Festival on 23 October, Gandhi spoke on why he chose to back the film. “I wanted to use all the resources that I had gathered at that time [of Ship of Theseus] to put into the kind of cinema that would take what we are doing one step further.”
Considering both Kajol and Gandhi's record of picking interesting and meaningful projects, this might be a project to watch out for.
