The race between Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay has reached the closing stages. Both films released during the pre-Diwali period, on 28 October. The final result is all set to be in ADHM’s favour, as has been the box-office trend ever since both the films released.
ADHM, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead, had a decent second Monday yesterday as it earned around Rs2.25-2.50 crore nett. The film had amassed Rs16.25 crore in the second weekend. It’s first week ended with an impressive Rs78.10 crore. The film now stands at a total of Rs96.75 crore.
With its budget being in the range of Rs85-90 crore, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is turning out be a safe bet for its producers. It is also believed that the film’s controversy with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) helped its cause.
Shivaay, on the other hand, has managed to earn Rs2 crore on the second Monday. Its current grand total is now Rs78.70 crore. Considering its reported cost of production of Rs105 crore, Shivaay is certainly facing a loss at the box-office. However, one can’t discredit the fact that it has managed to do decently despite not gaining a positive opening. The film managed Rs63 crore in the first week.
